Once you've picked two cities to walk between, Walking Quest gives you two ways to watch your progress: a route map and a progress bar.
The route map draws a line between your start and destination city, with a marker showing where you currently are along that path. The marker starts at your origin and moves toward the destination flag as your steps accumulate — it's a visual, not a literal GPS trace, since the app never collects your real-world location.
The route line is illustrative. Your actual position is calculated purely from step count versus target distance — the app never asks for or stores your location.
Alongside the map, a progress bar shows your completion percentage directly — useful for a quick glance without needing to parse the map. Both views are driven by the same underlying number: steps walked so far against your target distance for that challenge.
62% of the way from Lisbon to Madrid.
How far you need to walk to reach 100% depends on the challenge's distance mode — see Fun mode vs. Real mode for exactly how that target gets calculated, or convert any distance into a step count yourself using the same formulas the app relies on.
